Wider Beaches for Playa del Carmen Hotels!
A much needed beach restoration project started in late January in Playa del Carmen, Mexico has been completed slightly ahead of schedule much to the delight of beachgoers and tourists.
Over the last 20 years Playa del Carmen has found itself in a regular seasonal path of a number of tropical storms and hurricanes which have eroded the wide beaches around the area. The undertaking which has enhanced just about 2.5 miles of seashore was accomplished this previous week, February 18th, 2010.
The restoration required roughly 2.6 billion cubic feet of sand which was dredged from the sea seafloor offshore from the seashore. Environmental studies were made and measures are being taken to ensure the surrounding area and sensitive reefs will not be adversely affected.
The government sponsored program was on the fast track and was completed ahead of schedule. This particular section of beach in Playa del Carmen is very popular and the aim was to complete the project in an effective and efficient manner, mission accomplished.
